We are looking for a Chartering/Operator Officer to negotiate and coordinate barge charters, ensuring efficient operations and compliance, and maintaining customer relationships, contributing to revenue growth and operational success.

Tasks & responsibilities:

  • Negotiate and secure charter agreements, guided by the Chartering & Operation Manager.
  • Analyse freight rates, market conditions, and vessel availability for informed decision-making.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with clients to meet chartering and operational needs.
  • Manage barge operations, including scheduling, route planning, and ensuring on-time arrivals and departures.
  • Ensure operations follow regulatory and company guidelines on safety and efficiency.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records of chartering and operational activities, ensuring timely reporting.
  • Resolve any chartering or operational issues quickly to avoid disruptions.
  • Track and report the performance of charters and operations to management.

Requirements Chartering / Operator Officer

  • Prior experience with tanker operations is essential.
  • Must be willing to work 1-2 hours on weekends, every other week.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to assertively handle negotiations and entertain clients.
  • Proficiency in handling calculations relevant to chartering and operations.
  • Knowledge of English, Dutch, and German is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of chartering practices and legal aspects.
  • Expertise in barge operations, including scheduling and logistics.
  • Capable of negotiating favourable charter terms.
  • Ability to swiftly resolve issues related to operations and charters.
  • Strong communication skills for effective coordination.
  • Skilled in preparing and managing necessary documentation.
  • In-depth knowledge of compliance requirements in the shipping industry.
