Coating Engineer

Are you an experienced Coating Engineer looking to apply your expertise in designing and implementing innovative protection systems for large-scale offshore projects?

We are looking for a Coating Engineer to design, implement, and ensure compliance of coating, insulation, and fireproofing systems to protect offshore equipment and assets, while coordinating with various teams to meet project specifications and quality standards.

Tasks & responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and test coating, insulation, and fireproofing systems according to Group, Client, and Project requirements, including creating engineering specifications, application procedures, technical notes, and testing plans.
• Provide assistance to package engineers, supply chain, inspection teams, and other disciplines (piping, mechanical, structural, process) with coating, lining, insulation, and fireproofing matters.
• Collaborate with shipyards and fabrication yards on coating, insulation, personnel protection and fireproofing scopes.
• Apply the company's working instructions, propose improvements, and develop new solutions.
• Record improvements and opportunities throughout the project and submit them to DLE (Designated Lead Engineer).
• Verify that deliverables from suppliers and manufacturers comply with the company's specifications, international standards, rules, codes, and other requirements.
• Maintain consistent alignment with material selection, corrosion, and cathodic protection specialists to ensure coherence and address discrepancies.
• Assess coating and lining procedures produced by suppliers and subcontractors, including quality plans and inspection test plans.
• Validate that coating and lining systems adhere to applicable project specifications and standards.
• Comply with Group Technical Standards and GEMS processes; raise comments and deviations as necessary.
• Collaborate with third parties to review materials, processes and ensure adherence to project requirements.
• Offer guidance and recommendations on coating manufacturing, application, and testing.
• Recommend actions to prevent, address, or mitigate any deviations or issues in processes and systems.
• Record improvements and submit them for continuous improvement implementation.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
• Proven experience in coating, insulation, fireproofing systems, and corrosion protection in the offshore or energy industry.
• Understanding of coating procedures, application processes, inspection test plans, and related standards.
• Familiarity with international rules, codes, and standards for coating, lining, and fireproofing systems.
• Ability to ensure adherence to Group Technical Standards, GEMS processes, and project specifications.
• Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, supply chain, inspection teams, construction teams, and subcontractors.
• Ability to identify potential issues, suggest preventive actions, and implement solutions.
• Strong communication and reporting abilities to ensure clear guidance and feedback.
• Proactive in collecting lessons learned and implementing improvements in processes.
• Knowledge of relevant software tools and engineering applications used for coating, insulation, and fireproofing tasks.
• Ability to assess quality and compliance accurately and thoroughly.
