Piping Designer

We are looking for a Piping Designer to develop and interpret detailed piping designs using 2D/3D software. This role involves ensuring constructible, high-quality layouts that meet project specifications and deadlines, with the opportunity to lead design teams on assigned projects.

Tasks & responsibilities:

• Design Development & Interpretation
  • Use technical knowledge and software tools to create clear, constructible piping designs in 2D/3D formats.
  • Ensure designs can be easily interpreted by engineers and other team members.
  • Communicate with engineers and/or lead designers to confirm design intent, minimising rework.
• Project Planning & Task Execution
  • Plan and execute assigned tasks within agreed time frames.
  • Prioritise activities, manage conflicting deadlines and provide regular status updates to the Lead Designer.
  • Organise documents and deliverables to ensure clarity and accessibility.
• Collaboration & Issue Resolution
  • Work collaboratively with engineers and other designers to produce high-quality designs and resolve design conflicts.
  • Escalate unresolved issues to the Lead Designer or Engineer to avoid project delays.
• Quality Assurance
  • Maintain self-motivation to improve technical competencies for assigned tasks.
  • Ensure that assigned tasks fit within the project schedule, understanding their impact on other deadlines.
  • Perform self-checks to produce error-free deliverables, ensuring consistency in design and symbology.
  • Collaborate with Package Engineers for timely review of vendor documents, ensuring required quality in comments.
  • Adhere to project scope, specifications, codes, industry standards, and regulations.
• Lead Designer Responsibilities (if applicable)​​​​​​​
  • ​​​​​​​Coordinate team resources to meet project needs, aligning with the Discipline Lead Engineer on resource allocation.
  • Assign work based on team members' competencies, managing subcontractors and timely document reviews.
  • Ensure team members understand roles, responsibilities, and quality standards.
  • Actively participate in project design reviews, managing action items and aligning stakeholder expectations.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to team members, partnering with the Discipline Manager for Staff mentoring.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the piping discipline.
• Ability to make complex decisions and solve technical issues independently.
• Effective resource management skills, working effectively with engineers, designers, and stakeholders.
• Proficiency in 2D/3D design software, such as AutoCAD, with experience in piping design layouts and best practices.
