Senior/Principal Geotechnical Engineer

We are looking for a Senior/Principal Geotechnical Engineer specialising in soil mechanics to lead geotechnical assessments, foundation designs, and seabed intervention strategies for offshore wind projects while managing risks, developing innovative solutions, and mentoring junior engineers.

Tasks & responsibilities:

• Apply geotechnical principles to soil modelling, foundation design, cable trenching, and rock dumping for offshore wind projects.
• Lead and manage large geotechnical projects, ensuring efficient resource allocation and work package estimation.
• Interpret soil conditions, assess technical risks, and provide expert geotechnical advice to project teams.
• Conduct driveability assessments, leg penetration analyses, feasibility studies, and ground risk evaluations.
• Design offshore infrastructure such as rock berms, cable protection systems (CPS)< and trenching methods based on ground conditions.
• Act as the geotechnical focal point within projects, ensuring compliance with company procedures and best practices.
• Develop innovative tools and processes using AI and contribute to R&D projects for offshore geotechnics.
• Manage internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and coordination with subcontractors and consultants.
• Provide offshore and on-site geotechnical expertise as required.
• Mentor, review, and delegate work to junior geotechnical engineers.
• Represent the seabed intervention team in project meetings, client discussions, and industry forums.
• Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and lessons learned, improving best practices within the department.

• Master's or PhD in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering.
• 15+ years of relevant experience.
• 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Offshore wind/renewables sector experience is preferred.
• Expertise in offshore geotechnical engineering and soil mechanics.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software such as FRLWEAP, PLAXIS.
• Knowledge of computer programming (MATLAB, Python, or similar) for data analysis and modeling.
• Familiarity with site investigation practices and industry standards related to offshore wind developments.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and mentoring abilities.
• Experience coordinating subcontractors and consultants within complex projects.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Willingness to travel for short-term assignments.
